Event Details

Adrian Sutherland is a roots-rock singer-songwriter from the remote community of Attawapiskat in Ontario’s far north. Blending roots, rock, folk, and blues, he creates a distinctive sound inspired by his life, the land, and his Cree language and culture. A two-time Juno Award nominee, Adrian has also received multiple Ontario Folk Music Award nominations and won best Americana album at the 2025 World Entertainment Awards in Los Angeles. His sophomore solo album, Precious Diamonds, was recorded in Nashville with Grammy Award-winner Colin Linden and was named one of CKUA Radio’s top 100 albums of 2024. The album features two songs in Cree, marking the first time Adrian recorded music in his first language. As one of the few professional recording artists living in a remote fly-in community, Adrian brings a unique perspective to his music and storytelling. Through his work, he shares experiences rooted in community, culture, and connection, while encouraging understanding and respect during this time of reconciliation. This is a free event. All are welcome to celebrate Indigenous artists and culture as part of the UpFRONT Festival. Located on Scott Street, in between Meridian Hall and St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts.
