Daughters of Donbas is musically centered on the true stories of real stolen children. Combining indie pop, neo-classical and Ukrainian folk polyphony, these original compositions performed beside ancient folk songs are musical artivism.
On bandura, violin, viola, cello, bass, keyboard and soaring vocals, each performance is a musical journey through laughter, resilience and tears.
Each song is a testimony to a stolen name, a ruined childhood, a forbidden voice.
The project has made headlines around the world, including reports on the BBC, NPR, CBC, Sirius XM, German National Radio and other major media outlets.
Daughters of Donbas will be premiering a new arrangement by Marichka commissioned by Harbourfront Centre for the Summer Music in the Garden 2026 season.
