Event Details

A Toronto-based Ghanaian-Canadian activist, actor, and trumpeter, Rudy Ray Kwaku graces all genres of music with a unique energy and sound. Approaching performances with love, peace, and self-expression, Kwaku received a JUNO award in 2020 for Best Album with TOBi and appeared in Guillermo del Toro’s film Nightmare Alley. His work also intersects hip-hop culture, including collaborations connected to the iconic Wu-Tang Clan. Additionally, he contributed to TOBi’s Holiday, which won Rap Recording of the Year at the JUNO Awards in 2021. He is also the founder and creative director of Rudy Ray & Co., a multidisciplinary artist collective established in 2013. The collective blends Afro-Jazz, hip-hop, soul, and African diasporic sounds — creating a unique sonic identity rooted in heritage and innovation. A defining moment came when he performed at Massey Hall alongside Grammy Award–winning artist Jon Batiste.
