Patricia Wheeler’s “Not From Around Here” Project with Mike Cadó, Rob Thaller, Steve Lucas, & Dave Patel

An intimate evening with multi-talented bandleader Patricia Wheeler premiering brand new original music! Inveterate Toronto side musician Patricia Wheeler brings her latest project to La Rev for a premiere performance of original music. Known as a saxophonist who has performed in every major Toronto jazz, theatre and event venue, Patricia steps out from behind the horn to introduce a collection of original songs inspired by wild places, human stories, and the spaces in between. Her lyrics touch on themes of environmental struggle, spiritual crises, dancehall community, labour disputes, love, misunderstood rattlesnakes and horses that empower. Her rich narratives and thoughtful melodies are rhythmically underpinned by funky grooves, greasy blues, county swagger and new wave dance music, delivered by the crack rhythm section of Mike Cadó – guitar, Rob Thaller – Keys, Steve Lucas – bass, and Dave Patel – Drums.
