Amy Julia Rose

My name is Amy and I’m a singer-songwriter and jazz musician based in Toronto. I have been a jazz lover since I was three. I grew up listening to Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington and Frank Sinatra, among many others. I am a skilled composer and songwriter who makes music in all different styles, but jazz and blues have very special places in my heart. I love all types of jazz, from 20s Dixieland to big band to Great American Songbook to bossa nova. I accompany myself on piano and ukulele, and I sing originals as well as jazz standards in all different languages. I sing in English, Italian, Napoletano, Spanish, Russian, Yiddish, German, Portuguese, Ukrainian…the list goes on! Many of my songs feature scat singing and improv. I have performed my original music in three different countries, and I have played at some of the world’s most iconic venues, like the Whisky A Go Go and the Hollywood Grande Hotel in Los Angeles and the Underbelly Jazz Club in Seattle.
