Amhed Mitchel

Amhed Mitchel is a Cuban-Canadian drummer who has called Toronto home since 2006. A highly sought-after session musician, Mitchel has collaborated with an extensive roster of artists across genres and continents. In 2004, Amhed was part of the closing concert of the Tokyo Jazz Festival, sharing the stage with musical icons such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Dave Holland, Dianne Reeves, and Lionel Loueke. Throughout his career, Amhed has continued to perform and record with renowned artists from around the world, including Hilario Duran, Concha Buika, Lucky Peterson, Jane Bunnett, Marc Jordan, Kellylee Evans, Jordan John, Tim Rees, Michael Shand, Lou Pomanti, Roberto Occhipinti, Jackie Richardson, John Findlay, Rafael Zaldivar, Luis Deniz, Miguel Zenon, Michael Rodriguez, Manuel Valera, Alain Pérez, Robi Botos, Dennis Rollins, José A. Gola, Hadrien Feraud, Oz Noy, Alexander Brown, Elmer Ferrer, Roberto Fonseca, Jesse Ryan, Alexis Baro, Robb Cappelletto Trio, and Donnell Leahy, among many others. From a very young age, under the guidance and inspiration of his father- a respected Cuban drummer - Amhed was already performing and recording with legendary figures in Cuban music such as César López and Havana Ensemble, Elmer Ferrer Band, "Chucho" Valdés, Pablo FG, Decemer Bueno, and Roberto Carcassés, among others. His latest album, Silent Era, was released on September 6, 2025, featuring an impressive lineup of internationally acclaimed musicians including Hadrien Feraud, Oz Noy, Mike Rodriguez, José A. Gola, Alain Pérez, Elmer Ferrer, Horacio "El Negro" Hernández, Federico Peña, Ewen Farncombe, Emilio Martini, Roberto Riverón, Juan Pablo Domínguez, Michael Fernández, Israel "Piraña" Suárez, Jorge L.
