Mônica Freire

A World Music Concert A 2024 Félix Award winner – Ilhada named World Music Album of the Year – Mônica Freire draws from an intimate triangle of continents to shape her sound. Born in Brazil and based in Montreal, she weaves Lebanese and Syrian roots inherited from her grandmother into a borderless repertoire built on Brazilian guitar, oud, kanun, and the percussion instruments of the Middle East and Africa.
