Niña Volcán is a Toronto-based collective at the forefront of the emerging “Canadian cumbia” scene. Blending traditional cumbia rhythms with electronica, jazz, and afrobeat, the band creates immersive, genre-defying live experiences.
Their high-energy performances have appeared at Drom Taberna, BSMT254, Bloom Festival, and Toronto staples including Do West Fest, Beaches Jazz Festival, and the FIFA Trophy Tour.
Their debut album, Macondo (2025), supported by an Ontario Arts Council recording grant, features percussionist Pedro Ojeda and mixes by Eblis Álvarez. Macondo will be released on vinyl in August 2026.
In summer 2026, the band will launch its first tour outside Toronto, with stops at River & Sky (Field, ON), FTMS (Sherbrooke, QC), Cultivate (Port Hope, ON), and more dates to be announced.
