Stuart Brignell’s Organ Trio is an explosive and highly energetic group blending elements of Shuffle Blues, soulful RnB and straight Funk all in one package, with hinted influences of hard bop sprinkled in as well. The band has been playing breweries, private events and jazz clubs for years now. Stuart started this group to bring back Jazz in a “social” and “fun-loving” light to the city, which he found had diminished over the years. We want to show people in the city and especially the younger generation that jazz isn’t something to be solely consumed in a formal jazz bar with a quiet policy – it’s party music, its social music, it brings people together and it doesn’t (and shouldn’t) be elitist or polarizing. His organ trio consists of Lowell Whitty on drums and Alan Zemaitis on the organ. The band’s sound is reminiscent of influences such as Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Joey DeFrancesco, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Maceo Parker, Albert Collins, Soulive, and Charlie Hunter.
