Salsa Saturday w Mario y Su Timbeko

Cuban-born, Austin-based vocalist, songwriter and percussionist Mario “Mayito” Salomón is the founder of the popular group Mario y Su Timbeko Originally formed in California and now based in Austin, Texas, the project brings the drive and rhythmic complexity of Cuban timba together with influences from salsa, funk, jazz, R&B and gospel. Since its debut in 2018, Mario y Su Timbeko has performed at venues and festivals across the U.S., including San Francisco Carnaval and San Jose Jazz Fest, while releasing original music that reflects both Mario’s Cuban roots and his evolving North American musical journey. For this special appearance at Lula Lounge, Mario takes centre stage backed by an all-star lineup of Toronto musicians for a high-energy night made for the dance floor.
