Find your new favorite musician in your new favorite gallery. This month we welcome back Janel Jones, who’ll be crafting a special night of visual and sonic soundscapes with Atonal. Janel is a multi-disciplinary artist and songwriter whose practice centers healing, reflection, and play through sound. Rooted in jazz, soul, and contemporary improvisation, Janel’s sound is shaped by their Carribean heritage and over a decade performing within Toronto’s music community. Their music honors the ancestors, and holds the complexities of their intersectional earth experience. Atonal is the solo project of Kalina Nedelcheva, who blends experimental poetry, improvisation, and sound recording to create contemplative ecosystems that explore how sound affects our understanding of images, memories, the environment, and language.
