Cicada Woods Album Release with guests Medusa Quartet

Show at 8pm, Doors at 7pm $39+ in Advance, $50+ at the Door, $30+ Student, Underemployed, Arts worker Tickets Cicada Woods is a Canadian all-women tango-fusion string quartet. Pushing the sonic limits of violin, viola, cello and double bass, the ensemble uses percussive effects, scratches, siren wails and driving rhythms to create an electrifying sound that bridges Argentine tango, classical tradition and fearless contemporary experimentation. Wielding a sound that would turn classical music scholars to stone, special guests Medusa are reimagining the Western string quartet. By inviting back voices previously regarded as too ugly for “polite society,” they redefine what is beautiful.
